Tarihi bir konusma yapacaginin bilincindeydi Obama, ve kanimca he “delivered”.
Ilkbahardaki “race” hakkinda yaptigi o diger milestone konusmasinin ciddi ve humble tonu uzerine bu tarihi adayliginin ivmesini birlestiren bir konusmaydi.
Daha onemlisi, son bir iki ayda kendisine yonlendirilen “wishy washy”, “vague”, ve “impersonal” elestirilere teker teker cevap vermeyi amaclayan bir konusmaydi.
Belki en damar konusmasiydi.
Basta ekonomi olmak uzere o “issue”lari teker teker ele aldi, bir konusmaya sigacak derecede detaylara girdi, ve daha onemlisi, her issue’yu kendisine ya da ailesine relate edecek hikayelerle renk katti: “And when I hear a woman talk about the difficulties of starting her own business, I think about my grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management, despite years of being passed over for promotions because she was a woman.”
Ve her issue’da McCain’e “It’s not that he does not care about this issue. It’s that he does not get it!” diye direk elestiriler yoneltti.
Tabii ki cok ambitious bir pozisyon aldi “I will cut taxes for 95% of working families; I will invest in renewable energies that will create 5 million jobs; vs., vs.” fakat bu konumda gerekiyordu.
FDR, Kennedy, ve MLK’e de anlamli gondermeler yapti: “We cannot walk alone,” the preacher cried. “And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.”
Ve delivery’de de daha samimi, daha alcakgonullu, ve “crisp” idi.
Doksan bin kisilik stadyum tika tika doluydu. New York, New Orleans ve diger sehirlerde de disariya dev TV ekranlari etrafinda binlerce kisiyi daha toplamisti. Siradan insanlarin o hevesini hissetmemek imkansizdi.
Umidimiz, bu kitlesel “enerji”nin secimlere de yansimasi.
McCain’in ismi duyulmamis hard core muhafazakar ve tecrubesiz bir kadini VP sectigi haberlerinden sonra Obama now needs to “close” this deal!
