“Its clear that politicians are starting to have enough confidence that the Global economy has been saved and are starting to try to find ways of paying the bills from saving it and to politically punish what they perceive to be the culprits. The risk is that they do this too early and the timing of this announcement is unfortunate given it coincides with the escalation of problems in peripheral Europe and in a week where China has effectively tightened policy. In the 1930s over regulation was blamed for the duration of the slump and the risk is that there are early signs that we are edging that way.
